Adrian Abrecht
Managing Director and Owner of AFM
With over 20 years of experience in business finance, Adrian is a seasoned finance professional known for his deep expertise in Relationship Management, Business & Asset Finance. As the Managing Director of AFM, Adrian has spent a decade building a reputation for helping businesses grow and thrive, particularly within the commercial, small and medium business, and agribusiness sectors.
Adrian’s career began at Commonwealth Bank, where he focused on supporting businesses of all sizes. His passion for driving business success led him to found his own finance brokering firm, allowing him to bring tailored business financial solutions to the market. In 2012, Adrian founded AFM with the goal of providing business owners and operators with the financial guidance and support they need to succeed. His commitment to delivering results and “getting the job done” has been a cornerstone of AFM’s mission ever since.
When he’s not working with clients to meet their business finance needs, Adrian enjoys spending time with his wife Kate and their three young children – Ada, Ari, and Leo. Family life is never dull, with a busy schedule of schooling and extracurricular activities. Outside of the home, Adrian and his family love traveling (both locally and internationally), supporting their kids at local sporting events, and connecting with friends and extended family.
Adrian’s enthusiasm for business and his dedication to helping others navigate their financial journeys are at the heart of everything he does at AFM.

Steve Kay
Business Partner
Steve is our finance veteran! With over 40 years of experience in the finance industry, Steve has established himself as a well-known and highly respected figure throughout the banking and finance sector.
For more than 35 years, Steve proudly owned and operated East State Credit, where he built lasting relationships with a loyal client base and became a trusted advisor to many. In 2024, Steve made the decision to transition his business to Adrian and the AFM team, and he couldn’t be more excited to continue working alongside Adrian. Their professional journey together dates back to when Adrian left the Commonwealth Bank in 2012, and they have collaborated closely ever since.
Outside of work, Steve is a passionate football fan, cheering on St Kilda and local teams in the Latrobe Valley. He has also dedicated years to running the TDCA and now enjoys playing golf as a way to unwind. Over the years, Steve has developed an interest in horses, particularly those with speed, adding a bit of excitement to his leisure time.
Alongside his professional success, Steve and his wife, Maree, have had the privilege of traveling the world. But despite their international adventures, they hold a deep love for exploring Australia. Time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren is something Steve cherishes, as they truly are the light of his life. Whether it’s quality family time or enjoying his hobbies, Steve remains focused on balancing work, family, and his passions.

Craig White
Business Partner
Craig has built a strong reputation and a diverse client base across Australia. Now based in Queensland, he brings over a decade of industry experience and deep sector knowledge to his role at AFM. For nearly ten years, Craig owned and operated Riviera Finance, where he specialised in delivering tailored financial solutions to a broad range of clients. In 2023, he merged his business with Adrian and the AFM team, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a trusted reputation—particularly within the transport industry, where he is widely known and respected.
Throughout his career, Craig has become a go-to professional for those in the transport sector. His ability to understand the unique challenges and goals of his clients has allowed him to consistently deliver practical, results-driven financial solutions.
Outside of work, Craig enjoys a balanced lifestyle. He values time with family and friends—whether he’s cheering on a local footy team or exploring new destinations. A keen fan of water sports, he’s always up for an adventure, but also appreciates life’s simpler pleasures, like a cold beer and good conversation at the end of a busy day.

Tanya Lawrence
Broker Support
Tanya has been the backbone and an integral part of the AFM team since 2019. She is known for her vast knowledge, strong work ethic, and positive, can-do attitude. With 20 years in the finance industry, she has developed a true passion for all things finance.
Tanya earned her Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking Management in 2016. At AFM, she handles customer applications, manages documents, oversees settlements, and ensures everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
Outside of her professional life, Tanya enjoys spending quality time with her husband, Dean, their two daughters, Emma and Grace & Puppy (Suki). Together, they love going on family adventures and discovering new places to explore, Whether it’s finding a hidden gem for a delicious meal or simply enjoying a fun family outing, Tanya is always on the lookout for new and exciting experiences.

Zoe Shaw
Broker Support
Zoe is our vibrant and dedicated right-hand woman to Tanya and Adrian, having joined the AFM team in October 2023. With a solid background from her time at the Commonwealth Bank and qualifications in both Business and Financial Services, she brings a valuable mix of industry know-how and fresh energy to everything she does.
Zoe grew up surrounded by heavy machinery and trucks, This early exposure sparked her passion for the industry and shaped the strong work ethic she’s known and admired for today.
Outside the office, Zoe is all about adventure and connection. She loves exploring new countries, getting outdoors,especially for a weekend of camping,and unwinding with movie nights at home alongside her partner and their beloved pets. Whether she’s catching up with friends or soaking in the serenity of nature, Zoe brings warmth, enthusiasm, and a genuine love for life to everything she does.

Jackson McMahon
Broker Support
Jackson (Jacko) is a dedicated finance professional with a strong foundation in accounting and a genuine passion for helping clients navigate the complexities of commercial and asset finance. After earning a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting in 2020, he began his career as an accountant in Traralgon. In 2024, he enhanced his skills by completing a Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking.
Now, as part of the AFM team, he works closely with Senior Broker Steve Kay to deliver tailored financial solutions that align with clients’ business goals.
Outside of work, Jackson stays active through sports and fitness. He plays local football and cricket on weekends and enjoys casual rounds of golf. Jackson also values spending time with family and friends, often exploring new dining spots, from restaurants to pubs and cafés. Whether trying out a new local venue or relaxing with a beer, he enjoys discovering places to unwind.
